Coogee is among the eastern suburbs beloved for its beach life and seaside goodness. Despite it being a popular destination for tourists and backpackers (local and foreign alike), it’s still preserved the natural scenery that marks its identity.

The neighbourhood is best suited for young independent people who love to indulge in life’s adventures and what the water has to offer.

In this neighbourhood guide, we’ll go deeper into the things you’ve yet to realise about Coogee.

The name of the game is convenience

Coogee is only a few kilometres away from the CBD. All you have to do is take the Line 373 bus. Car owners will find that it’s an easy drive from the office and back, so don’t fear about having to leave your job in order to move to this great suburb. There’s no need to choose one over the other.

The suburb in and of itself is also accessible. You won’t need to travel far for shopping, hospitals, and even schools. The University of South Wales is a stone’s throw away – 30 minutes by foot, 15 minutes by public transport and less than 5 minutes in a car.

A home of the world

Building off of its history, Coogee is home to different European nationalities: English, Irish, Italian, and more. There’s also a strong presence of migrants from different countries.

What this means for you: everyday, you’ll find yourself interacting with people who speak different languages and who have seen the world. Not only will you learn a lot, you’ll also get to taste a variety of cuisines, learn new words, and experience different cultures just by living here.

Keeping yourself fit and entertained is a no-brainer

When you live in a busy city, you’ll have to make an extra effort and find time to exercise and have fun. In Coogee? It’s practically your lifestyle.

With Coogee Beach right within reach, you automatically have two options: surfing or swimming. You can opt to swim in the open sea, or a rock pool.

You’d also have the pleasure of taking long peaceful walks with a nice view along the Coogee Coastal Walk.

Living a peaceful life means having access to mindful activities like yoga. The Livingroom offers classes for all types of yoga, across difficulty levels. If you feel like exercising outdoors, Beach Fit and Well Being offers group training right by Coogee Beach.

Restaurants at every corner

Cooking at home is always an option, but for nights you’d rather head out to eat, there’s an unending list of options along Coogee Bay Road and Arden Street.

There are also bars and cafes where you can chill alone or be with friends. Popular local drinking holes include the Coogee Bay Hotel and the Coogee Pavilion.

Coogee has plenty to offer. It’s the perfect place to live if you want to lead a healthy life, as its relaxed atmosphere is always sure to take away your stress after a long day’s work.
